First engaging with us in 2011, Huvafen Fushi Maldives returned in 2023 for comprehensive refurbishments of its interiors. Diving into the furnishing process at Huvafen Fushi Maldives with BLINK Design Studio, it’s all about embracing nature’s beauty and blending it with top-notch craftsmanship. The inspiration behind the design was rooted deeply in natural elements, leading to the selection of handmade materials and soothing colour palettes that echo the tranquil environment of this idyllic retreat.

At onestop, we focus on more than just a stand-alone furniture design. Our mission is to create functional pieces that elevate entire spaces. Our expertise shines through in our meticulous and thoughtful approach, ensuring each piece not only integrates seamlessly into its surroundings but also enhances the room’s distinctive features.

From our very first engagement, we gain a comprehensive understanding of the unique needs and essence of the space. This foundation allows us to collaborate closely with our clients throughout the refurbishment process, considering materials, functionality, and comfort. A prime example of our philosophy is our creation of a headboard designed to frame a beautifully handwoven rattan panel. This project required careful coordination to ensure that the new work integrated flawlessly with our furniture, creating a cohesive and polished appearance. We selected teak wood, renowned for its durability and commonly used in outdoor furniture while also incorporating the highest grade of non-corrosive stainless steel. This choice not only enhances the furniture’s resilience but also ensures it can withstand the rigours of hotel guest use. The success of this process hinges on onestop’s adept coordination with suppliers and precise pacing of the delivery timeline, allowing us to confirm that all pieces fit perfectly upon arrival and assembly.

To further elevate the ambiance of the space, onestop also crafted the bathroom dressers using an innovative sea bamboo resin. The material not only provides a striking visual appeal with its rich, natural hues but also offers a tactile experience that invites touch. Its smooth finish contrasts beautifully with the textural elements of the handwoven rattan and the warmth of the teak wood, creating a multi-dimensional space that is both visually stimulating and comforting to the senses. This combination of look and feel contributes significantly to the overall experience, transforming the bathroom into a tranquil retreat. Guests are enveloped in an environment that reflects thoughtful curation and an appreciation for quality, ensuring that every detail, from the elegance of the materials to the comforting textures, invites relaxation and enhances their stay.

Our team meticulously handles each aspect of the refurbishment process. From inspecting the existing conditions and identifying which elements to replace for maximum cost-effectiveness, to sourcing materials and ensuring every piece is crafted to perfection, we leave no stone unturned. This collaboration thrives on the expertise of our professionals at onestop, who combine design acumen with project management skills to tackle challenges effectively while staying true to the designers’ vision.

Subsix Niyama

Our journey with Niyama Maldives began in 2011/2012 when we worked to understand the unique requirements of Subsix. Our partnership in creating the unique sea urchin chair for Subsix is a shining example of our commitment to delivering exceptional, bespoke solutions. This initial success demonstrated onestop’s capability to handle large-scale, complex projects despite being a young company at the time. Subsequently, Niyama Maldives entrusted us with the design and furnishing of all other public areas and renowned restaurants like Farenheit and Nest. Niyama became the stepping stone that propelled onestop forward, establishing us as a leading name in the bespoke furnishing field. We’re honoured to have them return to us for refurbishment this year after 10 years.

Back in 2014, we collaborated closely with the talented designer, Ed Poole, who conceived the innovative idea of the sea urchin chair. Inspired by the aquatic environment, this design feature was crafted to enhance the diners’ sensory experience, immersing them in an underwater journey. Together, we carefully selected materials that would not only emulate the appearance of a sea urchin but also endure the demands of daily operations.

During the design process, we explored various materials, including manila rope and synthetic plastic wicker, before ultimately choosing rubber tubing. This choice offered the necessary sculptural strength for the chair’s spines while maintaining a soft touch, effectively merging structural stability with visual appeal to bring the vision to life. The combination of luxury and durability was paramount, leading us to incorporate leather for the chair’s seating surface. Ingeniously, air conditioning pipes were utilised to replicate the sea urchin’s spines, resulting in a distinctive yet functional design. Throughout the process, we developed several prototypes to evaluate the chair’s comfort, stability, and safety. Each version was meticulously tested and refined, underscoring our commitment to perfection.

Throughout the development phase, we created several prototypes to evaluate comfort, stability, and safety. Each version underwent meticulous testing and refinement, underscoring our commitment to perfection. The craftsmanship of the sea urchin chair is evident in its construction: frames are welded from stainless steel, while the hand-woven rubber tubing is expertly crafted by Indonesian artisans, who replicate the chair’s distinctive spines using a labour-intensive technique that modern machinery cannot replicate. This process reflects the artisans’ deep understanding of design and skill, bringing the vision to life in a truly bespoke manner.

The culmination of our efforts saw our team travelling to Niyama Maldives for the on-site assembly. A thorough final inspection was conducted to confirm that the chairs not only looked stunning but also provided the intended comfort and safety for guests.

Our meticulous attention to detail, spanning from the initial design phase to the final installation, highlights our ability to transform visionary ideas into tangible masterpieces. This dedication is why we were thrilled when Niyama returned to us in 2024 for a refurbishment of their interiors. We appreciate Niyama for trusting us and choosing onestop again for their furnishing and fabrication needs, underscoring the strong relationships we have built with our clients. At onestop, we pride ourselves not only on delivering outstanding designs but also on fostering lasting partnerships that keep our clients coming back for more.
