Travel Trade Maldives 2017 was the first ever exhibition of its kind to be held in the country. The event took place in Dharubaaruge, the capital of Malé.
Travel Trade Maldives 2017 was hosted by Maldives Getaways, a local PR & Marketing Agency. The travel exhibition aimed to bring together key players in the Maldives’ tourism industry with a global network of travel agents. Attendees to the event included resort and hotel managers, key hotel owners, international travel trade stakeholders and other travel industry professionals.
TOURISM IN THE MALDIVES
The Tourism industry plays an extremely essential role in the Maldives. The Maldives as a destination welcomes over 1 million tourists each year – a number that is continuously on the rise. To boost the tourism market, the Maldives government has announced the development of over 50 resorts before the end of 2018. It estimates that the island nation will have over 50,000 available beds to tourists by 2020.
Presently, the countries with the most visitors to the Maldives are China, Germany, United Kingdom, Italy, and India – respectively, with strong positive growth from major European markets.
THE TRAVEL TRADE MALDIVES 2017
The TTM consisted of four components, held in 3 different locations. One such component was the hotelier summit which brought together over 100 hoteliers and more than 150 travel agents from around the world.
Another component included the Travel and Tourism Career fair which brought together over 2,000 professionals and students seeking careers in the travel and tourism sector. This was the first ever Travel Career Fair to be held in the Maldives.
ONESTOP AT TTM 2017
To support the promotion of travel and tourism to the Maldives, onestop took part as a silver sponsor of the event.
During the event, onestop set up an exhibition booth in the main hall of the event where the hotelier summit was held. Our booth showcased the story of onestop, as well as an overview of our services and projects across the Maldives.
At the TTM, we had the opportunity to network with some of the who’s who of the hospitality industry in the Maldives, and were able to pitch and present our services to key appointment holders in the industry.
With the success of the first TTM, the second TTM is being planned for 2018.
